May 24, 2013

A shooting at an apartment complex in Orange County sends a woman to the hospital.

Police responded to a shooting at the Oakbrook Terrace around 9:30 PM on Thursday.

Two suspects fled the apartment complex on foot, and witnesses reported seeing the suspects get into a vehicle in an adjacent neighborhood.

The shooting victim, a 25 year old woman, had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival and was taken to a local hospital by family members.

Officers later arrested 21-year-old Darrell Milton for malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, as well as several other charges.

William Wells, age 18, was charged as an accessory to a malicious wounding.

Milton and Wells are both from Orange County, and are being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital on Friday morning, but has reportedly checked back into another hospital.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the lower back area, and the wound is not considered to be life-threatening.

The shooting reportedly happened after an argument and assault had occurred.
