PVCC Student Named Best in State

March 26, 2013

A student at Piedmont Virginia Community College has been named the top community college student in Virginia.

Anastasiya Hvaleva will receive a $2,000 scholarship along with the award.

Hvaleva emigrated from Kyrgyzstan in 2005 to escape a revolution there. She quickly learned English, and is now the president of PVCC's International Club and Business Club.

She will graduate from PVCC in May and plans to attend the University of Virginia McIntire School of Business in the fall. She hopes to pursue a career in environmental technology.
