A parade to honor Iraq War veterans is being planned in Virginia's capital.
The Welcome Home Foundation is planning the parade for May 19 in Richmond.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that the parade was inspired by St. Louis, which honored Iraq War veterans last month with a parade that was attended by tens of thousands of people.
The newspaper says Craig Schneider, who helped organize the St. Louis parade, is also working with six other communities to plan celebrations recognizing returning veterans.
Michael Wallace, a Richmond spokesman, said planning for the event is still under way but that city support could include services from the police, fire and public works departments, as well as the waiver of permit fees.
