Ralph Leon Jackson, of Stuarts Draft, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Charlottesville Wednesday afternoon on charges related to two shootings that occurred at the Rock Point Overlook of the Blue Ridge Parkway on April 5, 2010.
The grand jury has charged Jackson, 57, in a superseding indictment, with one count of the premeditated murder of Timothy Phillip Davis by shooting him with a firearm and one count of using and discharging a firearm in relation to the murder of Davis.
If convicted on the new charges, Jackson faces a maximum possible sentence of death for both the murder charge and the use of a firearm in relation to a murder charge.
Jackson was indicted in Sept. and charged with one count of assaulting Christina Shay Floyd with the intent to commit murder, one count of assaulting Christina Floyd with a dangerous weapon with the intent to do bodily harm and one count of using and discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.
All of the alleged incidents took place at the Rock Point Overlook on April 5, 2010.
A Grand Jury indictment is only a charge and not evidence of guilt. Ralph Leon Jackson is entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the government to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
