People had a chance weigh in the plans for changes at McIntire Park on Thursday evening.

Parks and Rec held an open house at the Jefferson School in Charlottesville.

City staff and the design team were there to review design plans for the eastern portion of McIntire Park, including the proposed botanical garden. Staff also answered questions and got feedback from residents.

The designs show the proposed locations of bicycle and pedestrian access points, trails, buildings, parking, picnic shelters and other facilities.

"We are just thrilled to see the wonderful designs that have been represented here tonight and all the opportunities this will open to the community," said Helen Flamini, president of the non-profit McIntire Botanical Garden.

Draft plans are also available online.
