Places 29 Meeting Discuss Future Plans for Albemarle Co.

June 27, 2014

The Places 29 Community Advisory Council held a meeting to discuss future plans for Albemarle County.

According to the director of planning, Wayne Cilmberg, the drive-in restaurant Sonic has pulled out of development due to cost factors. The restaurant was supposed to be built along Route-29.

More development is coming to the Stonefield Shopping Center, including townhomes and shops.

The new Costco is also on track to begin construction.

“The road that comes in from the light on 29 from the post office is going to be temporarily closed through the side where Costco will be built. So that's going to be underway here pretty shortly,” said Cilmberg.

That project could be completed by next summer.
