Jan. 14, 2014

Former Boy Scout leader, David Brian Watkins, stood before an Albemarle County judge on Tuesday. He is accused of sexually abusing minors.

Watkins' defense attorney announced a plea deal is in development for her client.

Watkins is facing more than 70 charges of sexual child abuse, with the alleged abuse dating back to 2005. He had previously pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

The plea deal is expected to be finalized and made public next week, when Watkins is back in court.

Watkins led Keswick Troop 1028 from 2002 to 2008.
