Charlottesville Police are continuing their search for a suspect wanted in connection with a weekend homicide.

Police are still looking for 39-year-old Avery Gray Jr., who they say is armed and dangerous. He's wanted in connection with a homicide on Hardy Drive that left 36-year-old Oscar Brown Jr. dead.

Brown was found dead shortly after midnight Saturday outside the apartments on Hardy Drive, and police have named Gray as a suspect.

Court records show that in 1998, Gray was sentenced to a total of five years in prison relating to charges including breaking and entering, malicious wounding, attempted robbery and use of a firearm in a robbery.

Gray then faced another three years in prison in 2002 for a probation violation, court records show.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
