Albemarle County police are investigating $73,000 in unauthorized transactions from an area homeowners' association.
The Hollymead Citizens Association Board of Directors recently informed residents about the missing funds from the association's bank account.
An audit in June by a Charlottesville accounting firm showed the transactions were made from 2008 to 2012.
The association was eventually reimbursed $25,000, leaving about $48,000 still unaccounted for.
A Charlottesville management company has handled the finances for the association since February.
