Residents on Shelby Drive are on edge, after a home invasion early Tuesday morning.
Charlottesville Police say two men barged in, forcing their way inside the home, robbed a 24-year-old man inside, then shot him.
The victim is recovering at the University of Virginia Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Judy Dunivan has lived on Shelby Drive for several years. She says it is strange to see so much police activity.
"We don't have trouble like that in this neighborhood," said Dunivan. "Then all of a sudden, you don't have that security anymore."
Dunivan didn't hear anything on Tuesday morning.
"Our dogs were acting up," said Dunivan. "We just thought it was because it was raining. Might not have been."
Dunivan says she is now considering adding a security alarm to her home.
"If they can invade that home down there, they can invade this home also," Dunivan said.
Police are not releasing much information about the attack. They are not saying whether the intruders were acquainted with the victim, or what they stole.
Police spent several hours at the home on Tuesday.
"I hope they get them," said Dunivan, "because I don't want them coming back."
Police are asking people with information to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
