Police Investigating String of Car Break-Ins Along Barracks Rd.

Dec. 18, 2013

Albemarle County police are investigating a rash of overnight car break-ins.

Investigators say at least 20 cars were broken into Tuesday night in the Bennington, West Park, and Canterbury Hills neighborhoods off Barracks Road.

They say most of the cars were unlocked, making it easy for criminals.

“Please keep your car locked, and please remove your valuables from your car, especially valuables that are in common view,” Lt. Peter Mainzer said. “You don't want to make yourself or your property a target of opportunity.”

Police say they typically see an increase in car break-ins this time of the year.
