Police Make Dozens of Arrests at Spring Foxfield Races

April 27, 2013

A joint police effort at the spring 2013 Foxfield races have resulted in dozens of arrests.

The effort by Albemarle County Police, Virginia State Police, the county sheriff's office and a number of other agencies has resulted in 37 arrests on 40 different charges. Police say a majority of the charges were drunk in public.

Albemarle County Police also said three people were arrested on narcotics charges, and one person was charged with felony possession of cocaine.

A police spokesperson said one person was arrested for driving under the influence. A total of 61 additional traffic tickets were issued, mostly for reckless driving or exceeding passenger capacity.

All bond hearings happen on-site at the racetrack on Garth Road, and those charged are then taken by shuttle to the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
