Police Release More Information About Attempted UVa Abduction

February 21, 2013

Police have released new information on the alleged abduction and assault of a University of Virginia student from last week.

The victim met with investigators and was able to provide additional information about the suspect and the vehicle that he was driving.

The suspect is described as a middle aged male of Indian descent. The victim stated that he was tall, chubby with short black hair, and spoke in broken English.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark in color, four door sedan. The victim does not believe that the vehicle had any markings or decals to indicate that it was a taxi.

Police say the UVa student got into a vehicle that she thought was a taxi cab near 513 Rugby Road on February 17 at 2:30 AM. The vehicle continued past her Alderman Road residence to an area near Kellogg House, where she was assaulted.

The UVa Police Department is asking for assistance from the public with identifying the suspect, or any information that could help the investigation.
