LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - Police say a Virginia man abducted a 12-year-old Pennsylvania girl he met online, and took her to a hotel before authorities arrested him.
The Lancaster Intelligencer-Journal reports that the abduction happened at about 4 p.m. Friday. Police charged 30-year-old Nelson E. Hercules Jr. of Virginia Beach with several offenses, including attempted rape of a child, indecent assault, and kidnapping of a minor.
The girl's mother called police when her daughter never came home from school that afternoon, and the suspect's car was spotted soon afterward.
No attorney is listed on court papers, and Hercules is being held in Lancaster County Prison, unable to post $250,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 28.
