Drivers were caught up in traffic in Greene County on Sunday for utility work along Route 29.

Crews from the Rappahannock Electric Cooperative continued an improvement project for the Route 29 corridor on Sunday morning.

Police stopped traffic along the busy road several times between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to run power lines across Route 29. The goal is to improve electricity service in the growing area.

"What we're doing is we're bringing added capacity to the area," said Justin Cruise with the REC. "There has been significant growth along the Route 29 corridor. That area needs electricity and we're bringing it."

In all, six new lines were installed during the construction.
