Dominion Virginia Power is reporting several thousand people are without power in Central Virginia as winds from Sandy continue to hit the region.
Of the more than 4000 customers without power in Albemarle County, most are clustered in the Crozet area.
Overall, Dominion has 131,000 customers out in Virginia.
The company with about 2.3 million Virginia customers says backup crews are ready to be deployed as outages are expected to mount on Tuesday from high winds and heavy snow in some areas of the state.
Central Virginia Electric Cooperative is reporting 916 outages in the area. Appalachian Power. Rappahannock Electric Cooperative has 535 customers in the dark. There are no outages for local customers using Appalachian Power.
Additional crews are being brought in to assist with restoration efforts.
