People in our area are making sure to get their lottery tickets for Wednesday night's Powerball drawing.
The jackpot is currently estimated to be $425,000,000.
At the Seven Day Junior store in Charlottesville, people were lining up for tickets this afternoon.
A single winner would fetch a lump sum payment of nearly $245,000,000.
While tickets sales are high, employees say this isn't the biggest rush they've seen.
"I would have to say sales last time when it was like the $620 million, definitely were a lot higher than right now," say store cashier Justin Gibson. "But still, again, they are pretty high right now."
The world's highest lottery jackpot was a $656,000,000 Mega Millions ticket sold in March 2012.
