Powerball Ticket Bought in Charlottesville Wins $1 million

Oct. 10, 2013

A Powerball ticket from Charlottesville won $1 million in Wednesday night’s drawing. The ticket matched the first five numbers and missed only the Powerball number.

The ticket was bought at Seven Day Junior located at 111 Maury Avenue in Charlottesville.

The winning numbers for the October 9 Powerball drawing were 3-9-19-33-38, and the Powerball number was 18. No ticket matched all six numbers to win the estimated $108 million jackpot.

Whoever has this latest winning ticket has 180 days from the drawing date to claim the prize. The Virginia Lottery advises that before doing anything else, the winner should immediately sign the back of the ticket to establish ownership. When the person is ready to claim the million-dollar prize, he or she should contact the Virginia Lottery at 804-692-7777.

The ticket bought in Charlottesville was one of just seven nationwide to match the first five numbers in last night’s drawing, and the only one in Virginia.
