Members of a Virginia Beach church are mourning the death of their pastor, who collapsed after giving a sermon.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that 62-year-old Bishop Barnett K. Thoroughgood sat down following the Sunday morning sermon and collapsed at New Jersualem Church of God in Christ. Paramedics couldn't revive him.

The church's members include rapper Timbaland, who said in a message on Twitter, "rest in peace to my pastor, a true angel, Bishop Barnett K Thoroughgood."

In a 1987 interview with the newspaper, Thoroughgood said he began preaching at the age of 5. He was delivering sermons by the age of 16 at a Chesapeake church where his father was pastor. He started the Virginia Beach church when he was 20.

Freedom of speech was never intended by the founding fathers to include any unfiltered thing to come out of a person's mouth. The original concept of freedom of speech had nothing to do with what it has become. The comment by the Christian hater is typical of the uncivil foolishness that passes for freedom of speech nowadays.

Well here freedom of speech at its worst and prejudice also at its worst but the commenter has the right as to the first comment which the Newsplex deserves credit in posting even if they and me are holding our noses at the comment, difference is when the commentor collapses and dies where are they going? to an anoymous eternity, the preacher knew however where he's going. Now to learn ya something the commenter made as a treatise of logic whats called a "universal statement" which by points of logic (sorta like Spock would think in case ya don't get "IT") is a defeated argument as by but one exception which there is then the whole argument fails. Bill Akers, and I'm not afraid to stand named to my comments, no cowards here! Comes from a strength taught to millions of us by God's servants such as the Pastor that collasped. Perhaps you'd be happy commneter with someone mocking your loved one's death, review the golden rule! Cismont Bill
