Cars filed in the parking lot of Reid's Market Wednesday afternoon as people stocked up on some last minute items before the snow began to fall.
"You know how we do," says Charlottesville resident William Monroe. "When a snow storm comes, we go out and buy everything in the store."
People hurried through the aisles eager to get back home to relax before the snow storm.
"I got peaches, bananas, and grapes," says Earl Haskins.
"Milk, bread, sugar, whatever you need," says Monroe. "I'm planning on camping in with some chips, so we can sit back and relax and enjoy the weather."
Items were flying off the shelves left and right, as people prepared to stay in their homes for a day or two. One woman stocked up on something different than bread and milk to share with her co-workers.
"There's a lot of talk about snow and we have to make sure there's enough chocolate in the office," laughed Andy Hawkes. "Hard times, stressful times, we need chocolate."
Grocery stores weren't the only ones getting some action. Martin's Hardware store in Charlottesville also felt the snow rush.
"The big things selling right now are the sleds, also the snow shovels, we're selling batteries as well," says Harry Kemp, from Martin's Hardware. "Waiting for the big one, this could be it, we'll just wait and see."
Jasmine Johnson is hoping this can be the big one too, so she can take her twin girls out in the snow.
"I'm making the best of the weather," says Johnson. "Me and the girls are going to slide down some good hills."
"This will be there first time out in the snow, so I want to make sure they have a good time."
