The University of Virginia has taken the spotlight making headlines all over the country. Backlash from the decision to oust President Teresa Sullivan by the Board of Visitors has grabbed the attention of many. The question now raised is if the recent actions by the Board have deterred prospective students and parents.
"It was chaotic at first-I heard the President and it was like all these issues but really I know that the school will make the right decision and the Board will collaborate and decide correctly," said Liza Moore, a prospective student.
Political leaders and even the President of the University of Kansas have spoken on the issue saying:
"The secrecy and apparent foolishness of the BOV have sullied the honor of the University of Virginia."
Some current students say they have witnessed what has happened over the last couple of weeks and will stand by their University.
"I think if anything, it’s probably increased my support for the University. The way everyone has come together under the honor system and demanded that we get an explanation from the Board of Visitors," said Erica Basque, UVa student.
A vigil is planned for Tuesday before the Board of Visitors meeting. It starts at 2:30 p.m. on the Lawn and the Board of Visitors meeting is at 3 p.m. Inside the Rotunda.
