Albemarle County Supervisor Christopher Dumler sipped from a Starbucks cup as protesters held up signs at the county meeting, Monday night. Speakers did not mince words about their demand for Dumler to step down.
"This has disrupted peoples lives and he is rolling his "expletive" eyes," said protester Jamie Morgan.
Protesters want Dumler to resign from the board because of his guilty plea to a sexual battery charge in January.
"Victims of sexual violence and their supporters will not be silenced and we're not going away," said a protester.
Police were called in to help restore order after a particularly loud outburst by protester Jamie Morgan.
"Don't sick the pigs to assault me, I will leave the room. I don't want to stare in his face. He's rolling his eyes," said Morgan to a board member.
Morgan yelled out to police, "Don't touch me, Don't touch me, don't touch me," as she was removed from the meeting.
"He was playing on his laptop, he was drinking he's coffee and literally rolling his eyes. I just lost it when he rolled his eyes, said Morgan. "He's not just rolling his eyes with people that are here. He's rolling his eyes at the survivors of his rapes."
Protesters say the board is not sending the right message.
"To boys and to young men, the message is sexual assault is fine if your important enough of a person. To girls and young women the message, assault really doesn't matter.," said a protester.
One protester pointed out that never has he seen Democrats and Republicans agree on one thing in recent memory. In this case the issue is the resignation of Dumler.
Protesters say they plan to be at every meeting until Dumler resigns.
