Charlottesville radio host Joe Thomas is walking around with less weight on his shoulders.
The first thing most people usually notice about Thomas is his long, grey hair pulled back into a ponytail.
On Friday morning, Thomas shaved his head during his radio show.
Thomas was diagnosed with lymphoma about a month ago and he's been undergoing chemotherapy.
His hair was beginning to fall out and he said he was losing patience with it, so he turned his frustration into positive action.
Thomas made the decision to shave his head but wanted to see if he could raise some money doing it. Donors bid to take his ponytail home, raising over $4,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Donations are still being accepted, just make a check payable to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and send it attention Joe Thomas to Monticello Media.
