Radio Shuffle Means One Fewer Music Station in Charlottesville

January 14, 2011

News Talk WCHV will now play on 107.5, a high powered FM station. It replaces the variety music station Tom at 107.5.

Those involved say it will work to give better frequency to WCHV.

"WCHV 1260AM was growing, but it was limited in where it could grow because of the signal strength. At 107.5FM, now it can cover some of the outlying areas. It gives us a chance to give talk and the news to more people in an expanded base with a clear FM signal," said Steve Gaines, the general manager.

The switch happened at 3:06 p.m. on Friday, beginning with Joe Thomas and his new show Afternoon Constitution. The show will play from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in addition to his morning show on WCHV from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m

94.1FM will now become the wing-man to Generations 102.3. The station will now fill in the gaps where Generations 102.3 could not be heard by listeners.

You will be able to stream both 107.5FM and 1260AM live at WCHV.com.
