Fans of the Oscars didn't have to be in Hollywood to walk the red carpet and feel like a star -- the farthest they had to go is the Downtown Mall.
Oscar Experience Charlottesville took place Sunday night at the Paramount Theater. The event is one of only 45 parties officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Proceeds go to help a good cause.
"I think people come out to support this event because hopefully they love the Virginia Film Festival. They recognize our outreach and education program, but it's great to actually feel like you're participating in the Oscars when you're here in the Paramount Theater watching in that high-def screen," film festival director Jody Kielbasa said. "It's remarkable."
The Newsplex's Dan Schutte and Rachel Ryan served as the night's emcees.
