Reflections Program Exhibiting Works by Artistic Students

June 27, 2014

Forty artistically gifted middle school students got the chance to show off some of their artwork on Friday.

Students from all over the area were selected to participate in the intensive two week long Reflections: Governor's Art School program.

They spent much of that time creating, building and painting artwork to showcase for the community.

Program Director Judy McLeod says this is the perfect opportunity for students to express their artistic gifts.

"I know that they get experiences here that they couldn't otherwise have in their school divisions because of space, money and time and the other thing is that they are in association with their gifted peers," says McLeod.

Many students took to the streets of Charlottesville to get their inspiration for their art.

The Reflections program is funded in part by the Virginia Department of Education with local financial and in-kind support.
