Members of the Relay for Life of Charlottesville came together at Fashion Square to help people register for this year's relay event.

The money raised by Relay for Life benefits the American Cancer Society, so they can research a cure as well as provide services to people diagnosed with cancer.

“Cancer really touches everybody,” says planning committee co-chair Nikki Shrader. “I don't think there’s a single person who hasn't been affected and devastated by cancer.”

“The only way that we will ever find a cure is if we fight back, and we do that by raising money, trying to find a cure and helping people who actually have the disease.”

Relay for life takes place on May 3rd from 4 to 6 PM and will be held at the Albemarle High School track.
