Remains of Missing Man Found in Albemarle Co.

May 13, 2014

An active investigation by police is underway after human remains were discovered in the southern part of Albemarle County.

Police say a person discovered human remains near Keene on Wednesday, May 7.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the remains as those of Jesse Hicks.

Hicks was reported missing back in September of 2004.

The 47-year-old was last seen driving his Ford pick-up truck near Blenheim in Albemarle Co. Four days later, the truck was found abandoned in a parking area off Route 29, near the intersection with Route 6 in Nelson County.

Officials say the case into the disappearance and death of Hicks has been reopened and is actively being investigated by the Albemarle County Police Department in coordination with Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office.

Since this is an active investigation, police say they will not be releasing any additional information surrounding the circumstances of the case.

Anyone with information about the disappearance of Jessie Hicks is urged to contact Detective Phil Giles with the Albemarle County Police Department at (434) 972-4047 or CrimeStoppers at (434) 977-4000.
