Eric Cantor is stepping down from his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives today.

Eric Cantor is stepping down from his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives today, Monday, August 18th.

The resignation comes after a stunning primary defeat in the 7th District to tea party challenger Dave Brat back in June.

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced a special election to coincide with Election Day on November 4th to fill Cantors seat.
