UPDATE: 7:25 p.m.
Charlottesville Police are investigating a possible drive by shooting in the city Wednesday afternoon near the Downtown Mall.
Officers responded to a disorder on Garrett Street at the intersection of 4th Street around 5:30 p.m. after a call came in about shots fired in the area.
By the time police arrived, no one was there, but police say they are looking for a maroon van that was involved in the incident.
Police searched the area and gathered evidence left at the scene.
Shortly after the shooting, one witness told the Newsplex it appeared to be a drive by shooting. Another witness said she saw a man run and jump over a fence into Friendship Court Apartments.
Police say it does not appear anyone was hit by a bullet because nobody was taken to the hospital.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
