Republican Mayor to Endorse Democrat McAuliffe

Sept. 16, 2013

The Republican mayor of Virginia Beach is set to endorse Democrat Terry McAuliffe for governor.

This is the first time Mayor Will Sessoms has crossed party lines to make an endorsement in his 20 years in politics.

Sessoms is to make the announcement official Tuesday while touring the Virginia Beach Advanced Technology Center with McAuliffe and Norfolk's mayor, Paul Fraim.

The endorsement will come after the Northern Virginia Technology Council's political action committee endorsed Republican Ken Cuccinelli on Monday.
