The North Downtown Residents Association (NDRA) is happy to see new playground equipment at McGuffey Park in Charlottesville.

They believed that a lot of the equipment wasn't a good fit for younger kids in the area, so they asked for help from Charlottesville Parks and Recreation.

They soon got their wish for new equipment and are celebrating the facelift at the playground.

“There are so many children, both at the pre-schools that surround the area as well as in the neighborhood in the ages of five and under that really use this park and we thought that the equipment for that age level was kind of underwhelming at times,” says Heather Hill, board member for the NDRA.

The group held a celebration at the playground with icecream, face painting and balloons.
