A controversial police firearms range in Albemarle County was a hot topic at Board of Supervisors meeting.
Opposition to the Keene firing range dominated the public comment portion of a meeting held Wednesday morning.
Several people took to the podium to address their concerns, such as its close proximity to an elementary school, extensive noise, and an all around disruption to what they called an otherwise quiet community.
Lucian Jackson, a resident of Esmont, said, "The children will be impacted from the noise subconsciously. They will hear the pop pop pop, the noise, and the results of the shooting range will have an impact on the learning process that goes on at the school."
The Albemarle County Planning Commission approved the site plan of the firing range back in November.
