The Restore UVa Campaign is coming to a close Sunday night. A group of students started an auction website to raise money for the reconstruction of the rotunda, which is a $4.7 million project.
Instead of asking alumni for money, the website allows anyone to bid on an experience with the best of the university. Dinner with President Teresa Sullivan is just one of the things being auctioned off.
"For me personally, it'd be fun as an alumni when I've actually made a little bit of money to give back $1,000 to play tennis with the head tennis coach at UVa., and I think it'd be a fun way to engage the community and raise money at the same time," said fourth-year student Whit Hunter, who plays an active role in the auction website.
The plan is to continue the auction twice a year.
