Retaining Wall Collapses Near Albemarle Co. Store

Dec. 30, 2013

The retaining wall at the new Gander Mountain store on 29 North collapsed over the weekend.

Gander Mountain has blocked off a lane into the store parking area. A major portion of the wall, fencing, and part of the guard rail fell onto the creek bed below.

The store had two men directing traffic out there on Monday. They were only allowing one or two cars at a time and making sure they were spaced out. No word yet on what caused that wall to fall.
