Reward Doubles for Info on Missing Hiker

July 3, 2014

A reward for information about the whereabouts of a missing Staunton hiker has doubled.

The reward is now posted at $50,000 for information that helps to locate 60-year-old Robert “Bobby” Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald disappeared in November 2012 on Shenandoah Mountain.

Police believe he lost his cell phone while hiking on the mountain and went looking for them the next day. Fitzgerald was reported missing days later when he failed to show up for his job in Stuarts Draft.

Search and rescue teams have looked for Fitzgerald several times.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Augusta County Sheriff's Office at 540-942-5113.
