Louisa County Commonwealth's Attorney Tom Garrett
announced Friday the conviction of 24-year-old Shakir A. Moore, of Richmond.
The defendant was arrested in a joint undercover operation by the Albermarle Police Department, Bedford County Sheriff's Office, Charlottesville Police Department and the Louisa County Sheriff's Office, on March 9, of the popular website Craigslist.
Moore contacted the undercover officer by email. He then chatted online with whom he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. Moore then suggested a meeting location where they could have sex stating he wanted to "be her first." He arrived at the rendezvous location with condoms and candy but was met by ICAC officers from across the region.
Moore is scheduled to be sentenced on August 29. The charge carries a maximum 30 year sentence.
