Delegate Rob Bell (R-Albemarle) officially announced his candidacy for Virginia Attorney General at a news conference Tuesday afternoon at the General Assembly Building in Richmond.

Cuccinelli recently announced he would be running for the Republican nomination for Governor of Virginia in 2013.
Bell, the current Chairman of the Virginia Crime Commission, currently represents residents of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene and Rockingham counties in the House of Delegates.
"I've spent the last ten years trying to be a crime fighter down in Richmond. I've written laws about keeping sex offenders out of schools and increasing punishments for drunk drivers," he said.
An honors graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia Law School, Rob Bell served as a prosecutor in Orange County, Virginia, for five years. In 2001, Bell was elected to the Virginia General Assembly’s 58th District seat. In 2011, Bell patroned the new law to expand Virginia’s protective orders law.
""Last year, after the tragic death of a student at UVa, I patroned the bill to make it easier for crime victims, for people like her to get protective orders," said Bell.
Bell says he does expect others will run in the primary.
