PRINCE GEORGE, Va. — Aircraft engine maker Rolls-Royce is planning to build a new Virginia facility to make turbine blades for its engines.
The company said Wednesday that it is investing $136 million to develop the advanced airfoil machining facility in Prince George County, creating 140 jobs.
The facility will be located alongside the company's engine components facility at the Rolls-Royce Crosspointe campus that opened in May 2011.
Officials say the 90,000 square feet facility will produce turbine blades and nozzle guide vanes for its engines used on some of the most sophisticated aircraft in the world.
Rolls-Royce North America says construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2013, with the first components being produced in late 2014.
