Mitt Romney has emerged the winner at Washington and Lee University's mock Republican convention.
The Lexington university said Saturday the Indiana delegation put the former governor of Massachusetts over the top by awarding him all 46 of its delegates.
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell was chosen as his vice presidential running mate.
The outcome for presidential nominee wasn't close. Romney finished with 1,781 delegates, while Newt Gingrich had 222. They were followed by Rick Santorum with 151 delegates and Ron Paul with 130.
This was Washington and Lee's 25th mock presidential election, which selects the nominee of the party out of power. Students have been wrong only twice in picking the ultimate nominee. The last time was in 2008 when they picked Hillary Clinton as the 2008 Democratic nominee.
