A Mechanicsville man died Saturday and his wife seriously injured after a crash Saturday morning in Fluvanna County involving a tractor trailer.
The crash happened at 11:45 a.m. Saturday on Route 15 just south of West Bottom Road, Route 655.
Virginia State Police say 51-year-old Chris Neagle was driving north on Route 15 when it slowed to make a left turn onto a private drive. A tractor trailer, also traveling north, was unable to stop in time. It served to the left in an attempt to avoid the car but instead struck the driver's side.
Neagle died at the scene. His wife, Cynthia Neagle, was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck, 49-year-old Donald Sly of Iowa, was not injured and was charged with reckless driving. The truck was empty at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Virginia State Police.
Route 15 has reopened in Fluvanna County after a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Saturday afternoon.
It happened near Columbia on Route 15 at the intersection with West Bottom Road, or Route 655.
Virginia State Police are investigating the accident and have not released any details so far.
Route 15 was closed in both directions while crews cleaned the scene and the crash reconstruction team investigated. The accident around 11:45 a.m. Saturday, and the road reopened around 4:30 p.m.
