Charlottesville Marathon runners readied for the race tomorrow at a packet pickup.
Runners of the marathon, Half Marathon, 8K, and Kids Mile picked up their bibs and t-shirts near the Freedom of Speech Wall on the Downtown Mall.
Vendors also sold gear at a Running and Fitness Expo and bands played.
Runners we talked to had support coming along with them; they were meeting up with family and friends for the races.
"We wanted to have a chance to all come down from D.C. and run together. And our friend Megan is running in the half and four of us are running in the 8K," said Acacia O'Connor, standing with on of the four friends running the 8K, Trevor Willett.
Sisters Laura and Kathleen were running the half marathon. Their other sister and some cousins were coming to support, them, too.
"I signed up for the half marathon last year but found out I was pregnant. So, then I had to roll it over to this year and all my siblings and cousins are coming to my aid and running it with me because I don't feel very prepared, Laura said, laughing.
"Nervous," said Laura of how she was feeling.
"Exciting though, because all three sisters are running it, so it should be fun," added Kathleen.
To prepare, the sisters were going to eat Italian food on the mall.
"Carbing up at Sal's," said Laura.
"All of our cousins and all brothers and sisters are all gonna go out to dinner," said Kathleen.
Runners could attend a pancake breakfast at Whole Foods earlier Friday.
The runners all said they're looking forward to seeing scenic Charlottesville on Saturday and throughout the weekend.
"It'll be a nice run. Charlottesville's beautiful," said Kathleen.
"I've never been here before," said O'Connor. "we're excited to explore the area."
"It'll be fun. It's beautiful here. I'm excited," said Trevor Willett.
