Charlottesville School officials are commenting on a shooting incident that occurred on a school bus last week.
CBS19 reported exclusively about how a student allegedly fired an air-soft gun on the bus and the pellet struck another student.
They were riding home from Burnley-Moran Elementary School. Parents say they are still upset that it took a day after the incident before they were notified.
“There are safety protocol,” says Charlottesville Schools Spokeswoman Jane Lee. “If there is an incident on a bus, the bus driver is supposed to notify their manager, and their manager is supposed to notify the school district. As far as why we didn't find out that afternoon, that’s a good question and the bus driver is employed by the city.”
CBS19 was told the bus driver did notify a superior. The driver was not told about the incident until a student came forward at the end of the day.
