The Salvation Army is starting its annual school supply drive, which runs from July 21st to August 11th.
The Salvation Army will be collecting school supplies throughout Albemarle County and Charlottesville for local students.
Items needed include:
- 3-Ring Binders
- Marble Notebooks
- Subject Dividers
- Loose Leaf Paper
- #2 Pencils
- Colored Pencils
- Glue Sticks
They are also accepting check donations.
Organizers of the drive say this is a great way to make sure parents have everything their kids need for the start of the school year.
"This way it takes off a little embarrassment for the parents to be able to know that their kids are going to have what they need to start school and have those tools that they need to learn and have a good smart year," says Major Melinda Johnson with the Salvation Army.
You can drop off donated school supplies at:
- ACAC: 500 Albemarle Square
- K Mart
- Sam’s Club
- State Farm (employees only)
- Virginia National Bank: 1850 Seminole Trail, 1900 Arlington Boulevard, 222 East Main St. and 404 Peoples Place
The Salvation Army is also seeking volunteers to help sort and pack donations. Call 295-4058 ext. 114 if you’re interested in volunteering.
