Va. Democratic Senator Tim Kaine is in the middle of his three-day defense tour. Kaine is traveling throughout Va. discussing issues with the armed services.
Today the senator spoke to members of UVa.'s ROTC at Garrett Hall. He discussed the next generation of military leadership with the officers and spoke to the Newsplex about his tour through Va.
"We're going to military bases, veteran's hospitals, national guard armories, talking to military families, visiting bases and private ship repair facilities to talk about the armed services issues," says Sen. Kaine. "Especially the idea of these sequester cuts, which could hurt our defense and hurt our economy."
The senator also introduced Secretary of State John Kerry before he gave his foreign policy speech, also on UVa.'s Grounds
Later today, Sen. Kaine will travel to the Va. Medical Center in Salem to discuss continuing care for veterans.
Tomorrow he will continue his defense tour as he travels to Staunton to meet members of the Va. National Guard 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
