Shady Grove Mobile Park is a quiet place. Gerald W. Staton Jr. has lived here for a year. He says residents here seem to like where they live, and they enjoy the quiet.
"I mean, it's a nice quiet place. It’s a good place to live. Nobody bothers you, except for these break-ins like this."
But he says a series of break-ins, the most recent being while the owner was home, has them scared.
"I was asleep, about 1:30 in the morning. And my girlfriend woke me up and said there is a man in the house. So I run him through the house and out of the door. And he got out in the street and I couldn’t run no more."
And his home isn't the only one.
"A friend of mine's doors been kicked in, four or five vehicles been broken into, a buddy of mine down the road here, has had climbing gear stolen."
Some of the residents feel like their concerns aren't being taken seriously.
"I called the police department. They rode through and that was it…rode through with the spotlights and that was it, and never even got out of the car."
Some are afraid they are going to have to protect themselves now.
"I can promise you one thing, if he comes back in my house again, he will get hurt.”
Now this community is on edge waiting to see what will happen next, and hoping the sheriff’s office can put a stop to the crime before it gets worse.
"Its getting' bad I mean, somebody got to do something.”
