Albemarle County police are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting Tuesday night and they say he could be dangerous.
Police were called out to the 1100-block of Durrett Ridge Road just before 8 p.m. Tuesday night for a physical disorder. When they arrived, they found a man had been shot and seriously injured.
That victim was flown via Pegasus to UVa. Medical Center.
Police have identified the suspect and say he and the victim know each other. The alleged gunman left the scene after the shooting.
"The suspect did flee from the area, so we are now following up on leads and searching and trying to locate the suspect involved," said Carter Johnson, public information officer with the Albemarle County Police Department. "Again, the suspect and victim were known to each other. This was not a random shooting or incident in the community."
Police will not confirm where they are looking for the man, but search crews were seen in a wooded area near Burnt Mill Road and Watts Passage Road.
The area around the 1100-block of Durrett Ridge Road is closed while detectives are on the scene collecting and processing evidence.
The investigation is ongoing.
