The paint is dry, the shelves are stocked, and the lights are on at several storefronts at the Shops of Stonefield. The 14-screen Regal Cinemas is set to open on November 9th. Trader Joe's and Pier One are soon to follow. In all, 40 retailers will be nestled on the corner of Hydraulic Road and Seminole Trail.
"We will have the anchor retailers opening this year," said Brad Dumont, VP of Development at Edens. "A couple of restaurants will be the next wave of openings throughout January and February, then from March through June we will have a lot of the apparel and home goods opening."
Dumont said developers didn't want to fill the space with national chains. "We know if it's all just national chains it wouldn't be adopted by the community and it wouldn't be reflective of the community," Dumont said.
Charlottesville-based Blue Ridge Mountain Sports will play a prominent role in the new development, with a corner storefront and an indoor climbing wall. A two-thousand square foot Brooks Brothers is also in the works, along with what developers are calling a "high-end" women's workout apparel store. Other retailers already announced include William Sonoma, and Pottery Barn. Restaurants set to open include Pasture, Travinia Italian Kitchen and Burtons Grill. Developers say plans for a beer garden and wine bar are also on the table.
"Whether it's to come and see a movie and grab dinner or grab groceries and a coffee and sit out at the park, we want this to be a very inviting place for the community and a place everyone is comfortable hanging out," Dumont said.
A Hyatt Hotel and town homes are also under construction.
