The first commercial flight for the day out of Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) took to the sky around 5:00 PM, this after the airport had to shut down its runway because of snow.
The parking lots were full on Wednesday, but it was quiet inside as a few travelers waited it out for a 4:50 PM flight to Chicago.
Crews had been out plowing the runway since Tuesday night.
They say it has been a constant battle not only clearing it, but keeping it clear.
A few flights will also land at CHO later in the evening.
The airport's deputy director says all flights scheduled for Thursday should go as planned, but adds that travelers should double check with their airlines before heading to the airport.
