(AP) - The Department of Defense says a soldier from Virginia has died in battle in Afghanistan.
Officials say Sgt. Robert J. Billings, of Clarksville, Va., died Saturday of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.
The 30-year-old was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington.
